Healing Through Craft

We are on a mission to make Dundee the Recovery Capital of Europe using Craft and Design.

Who

We are on a social mission to make Dundee the recovery capital of Europe by providing healing through craft. We provide craft education as a means of skills development, personal development, resilience building and a collective healing through craft. We do this through Dundee Community Craft, a More Than Profit® Community Interest Company. Dundee Community Craft CIC was founded in 2021 by Stephanie Graham who has her own range of work of work in the about section.

Why

Although the traditional models of care are essential in meeting people's physiological needs on their recovery journey, emotional and spiritual needs must also be addressed.

Craft is a platform for self-expression, allowing the ability to pass on tools and skills and promote empowerment.

Jewellery can be used to forge a new identity. It offers a unique platform for conversations between those who make and those who view jewellery.

“It is, in reality, the priest or the clergymen who should be concerned with the problem of spiritual suffering, but the sufferer will first consult the doctor because he deems himself physically ill, and because some symptoms can be alleviated by drugs.”

Carl Jung

How

Dundee Community Craft partners with organisations to run craft workshops and free classes for those on their healing journey. We have two community based production lines where members of our community and our community makers come along to make, heal and recuperate together. We run bespoke therpeutic craft workshops for members of the public as a pay-it-forward scheme and as a means of up-skilling and providing employment to those who would other wise not have the opportunity.

Our founder and CEO Stephanie Graham has her own work which she sells on this site.

Through our work, we make, sell and traditional craftsmanship and design and reinvest our profits into the business to enrich the lives of others through the good spirit of craft, design and business.
